The Tiny King Taro Miura Books Reviews

My toddler and I love this book. I particularly like the way the author used color to evoke emotions. The story is indeed basic the Tiny King is lonely, then he gets a family and he is not lonely anymore. What is unique and funny in this book is that the focus is not on his emotions but on the practical side--now there is someone for him to splash in the bath, now there is someone to help him finish his dinner, now his bed is cozy, etc. These are the simple joys of family life that anyone can relate to, and the book always makes me smile.
My son was attracted to this book because of the bold colors and shape inspired graphics. He was very curious about the typography of the numbers on the royal children's beds. It is a very cute short story about a tiny king who is very lonely in his big fancy royal home. Then he meets a big princess and they have a big family. Now his days are filled with noise, laughter, busyness, and love... He is definitely not lonely and he couldn't be happier.
This is a delightful book. The illustrations are perfect. Children love the story and they love to look for details in each picture. They count the children, look for the tiny king, and all the other details. Both on a one-to-one reading and also a class reading, the children are totally engaged in the story. So glad I found this book.
I know the illustrator personally, and I was happy to see my niece enjoys this book as a bedtime story!
My nine month old loves this. This and Chu's day are his favorite books. Very simple story that works well.
An instant charmer for my 2yo who now loves to page through and tell the story himself. Its bright and bold illustrations rock our world, while the story is clean and simple - so simple that I first misjudged it as being flat.
